Mom,
From your humble beginnings in Jamaica. You left for Canada at the age of 20 for a better life. I remember you working tirelessly to create a life filled with love and opportunity for my sister and I. I remember the countless hours you spent juggling jobs, all while ensuring that our home was a beautiful sanctuary. You did the best you could with what we had.
Your culinary skills are nothing short of magical. The aroma of your delicious dishes wafting through our home is a memory I cherish deeply. Whether it’s your savoury roasted chicken or the sweet, flaky pastries, and cakes you bake, each meal is a testament to your love and creativity. You have a remarkable ability to bring people together through food, and I can’t help but smile every time I think of those dinners, and deserts we devoured.
Mom, your strength and resilience inspire me. You’ve shown me the importance of hard work, determination. Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed, and they have shaped my desire to make Jamaica my second home. The beauty of our island, the warmth of our people, and the rich culture are all reflections of the love you instilled in me. I am my Mother’s Daughter, I carry a piece of you with me wherever I go, and I am proud to share our heritage with the world.
Thank you for being my Mother. You have always been there for me. You have given me the strength to pursue my dreams, and I hope to make you proud every day.
As I reflect on all that you have done, I want you to know that I love, and appreciate you more than words can express. Thank you for every sacrifice, every lesson, and every moment of love you have given us. I am blessed to call you my mom.
Love you,
Teka Xo
